Satellite Internet Advantages
December 31st, 2009 |
Planning to get an internet device that could serve you well in terms of your daily downloads, business and also online chats? If that’s the case then one clear option would be to get internet over satellite which is currently a common method used by individuals to access the internet.
The reason many are opting to use satellite internet is due to the fact that it has various advantages compared to the other methods available such as a dial up connection. The first advantage would be that this method allows individuals to obtain high speed connections even in rural and remote areas where DSL connections aren’t available. The satellite dish which is used in this method directly sends radio signals to a satellite located in the stratosphere of the earth. A fast response is then sent back to the satellite dish thus allowing you to receive information in just a few seconds. This is highly beneficial as serves as an advantage to those people who often travel or are located at rural areas, as the satellite connection does not have to go through DSL or phone lines which common methods do. You can use it anywhere, anytime without any restrictions.
Besides that, internet over satellite does not tie up with local telephone cables or a cable television subscription. Methods such as a dial up connection often interferes with phone lines where a user would not be able to receive incoming and also make outgoing calls as the phone line would be occupied in receiving an internet connection. Getting an internet connection through satellite does not disrupt this connections as it uses a satellite dish to send also receive information. Furthermore, you will not have the problem wires lying around your computer or laptop.
Finally, the best advantage through this method is that the internet speed would not be influenced or affected by phone or wiring attached to the computer. Once you have internet through satellite, factors such as telephone line cuts and also wiring problems would not disrupt your internet connection.
At the end, I’d like to share cool website with more information on topics like inexpensive satellite internet and install satellite internet. Visit for more details.

I agree with the advantages of satellite connections as you mention in your post. However it worths to mention the disadvantages of satellite links as well:
1. Cost - satellite links are usually more expensive than other broadband alternatives.
2. Delays - due to the distance between earth and satellite, there is a higher delay in transmission which makes the link not so suitable for real-time applications such as VOIP (telephony), video, online gaming, etc.
3. Satellite links are affected by weather condition, you may get a weaker signal in rainy days.
I’ve worked 6 years with satellites and installed 7 Vsat dishes and these information come from practical experience rather than theories.
You are right that satellites are the best options for areas with no infrastructure as you don’t have to invest in any.
