In this era of technology, much of our time is spent accessing the Internet. Data is now easily gathered and information is automatically generated with the use of different web sites on the internet. Even schools, government agencies and health care facilities are now updating their records and making them available online. Here is a list of the top 5 cable broadband internet providers for home users.

1. Comcast

Comcast is the leading broadband internet provider which offers a maximum of 105 Mbps in most of its covered area. Their monthly rate is as low as $29.99. This rate may vary based on the speed you want for your home connection. Comcast also offers additional features like cable television and telephone services which attracts more customers. They also provide excellent technical services but sometimes encounter problems with field troubleshooting. But overall, Comcast is in the number one spot in the top 5 broadband internet providers.

2. Time Warner Cable and AT&T

Time Warner Cable and AT&T shared the second spot in the top 5 broadband internet providers. Just like Comcast, there services are offered in selected areas but with only 50 Mbps average internet speed. Their monthly rate is $29.99 and $14.95 respectively. Their high-speed internet access is not available in all areas where they provide service, however, they offer email accounts and security as additional features.

3. Cox Cable

Cox Cable offers internet services for $34.99 per month. They offer high-speed internet with average customer and technical services. They also offer additional email addresses, security and online storage for their subscribers. Unfortunately, their high-speed internet access is only offered in limited areas. DSL services are not yet available in the rural areas. For this reason, Cox cable ranked third in the top 5 broadband internet providers.

4. Optimum

Optimum is also known for their high-speed internet access with a maximum of 50Mbps. This is offered for $29.95 per month which includes security and parental control. They also offer excellent customer and technical support in all the areas they cover. Unlike the first three mentioned above, Optimum offers services to only 3 million customers and is not yet available in other areas. Though they can compete with speed, reliability and customer services, their coverage area placed them fourth among the top 5 broadband providers.

5. J Charter

J Charter ranks fifth among the top 5 broadband internet providers. J Charter can compete with high-speed access which can reach up to 60Mbps. Just like other internet providers, they offer services in limited areas. Their monthly rate is $19.99 which includes parental control and security services. Unfortunately, their customer service and technical support is only rated as satisfactory and needs improvement.

These top 5 cable broadband internet providers are rated based on service area covered, connection speed, features and technical support. It is worth mentioning that each of the providers mentioned is offering a cable based broadband service and each of them are available in limited areas. For broadband providers that service the entire country, even rural areas, satellite internet is the way to go. One of the best satellite internet options is HughesNet. This list should help you get started in choosing a high speed internet service provider. Remember to select a package that fits your family’s need.
